WELCOME

The Children of Zion Village is a Christian home for orphans in the southern African nation of Namibia. It is located along the Zambezi River in the northeast corner of Namibia. Our children come from several different tribal and language groups.

The "village" opened in January, 2003 and is now home to 57 children. Most of the children have been placed in our care because they have lost their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to AIDS.

Here the boys and girls receive love, nutrition, shelter, healthcare, academic, vocational and Bible education, and become part of one large Christian family. Our missionaries, volunteers, and Namibian staff work together to raise the children in our "village".

VILLAGE NEWS

GROWING UP AT COZV

Just as our own children grow up and "leave the nest", some of the children at Children of Zion Village are starting to make their own lives.
A few of our older children have gone on to independent living.  We pray that they stay true to the faith they have found in Jesus and share His love with others as they strive to honor Him with their lives.
A number of our high school children have recently begun "outschooling" and are attending high schools in the community.  We pray that these children hold fast to the lessons they have learned and use their faith to help them make the good decisions as well as work hard on their academics. The Lord has plans for each one of these.
As our older children are "transitioning", we now have two new little ones!  Twin baby boys were placed with us at just one month old.  We pray for the health of these little babies and pray that they would feel the love of Jesus surrounding them through the care of our Children of Zion Village family.

UPDATES FROM TRAVIS & LORNA

Summer time in the USA is often a time for a lot of volunteer traffic at Children of Zion Village.  This year that tradition continues.

Teams and individuals are spending time lending extra hands for physical work, bringing special activities, sharing new skills, playing games, reading books, having fun with talent shows, and being a big blessings for our children, our staff, and our directors.

Travis and Lorna Curry, our directors at COZV, have shared many updates in their latest newsletter.

Race Across the World success!

On June 18th we held our first annual Race Across the World to benefit Children of Zion Village.

Our 59 children at COZV traveled to town (transported in one huge truck!) and spent the morning running laps on the 1/2 kilometer track at the local sports complex.  The run was followed by a traditional braii and dancing back at COZV, making it a full day of celebration.  All of the children did a fantastic job, but Goty was the top runner completing 30 laps!

Several hours later, across the ocean in Maryland, USA, over 60 people ran laps on a 1/4 mile sports track in support of the COZV runners and the COZ ministry.  Many others came to cheer them on and to join in the festivities of games, food, music, dance and fellowship.  We had several runners complete over 20 laps in an hour, and one runner ran for 2 hours and completed 40 laps!

Many others from all around sponsored a COZV child for their run.  It was a fun and successful day, with a total of over 1600 laps run!    Please click on the Race logo below to see a slideshow of the event.

Thank you to everyone who supported the event with finances and with prayer.
We'll do it again in 2012!

The Waters of the Zambezi River

For several months now the Currys have been told by the local people, "the river has never been this high this early."  "Severe flooding of the COZV property is definite."  "It is sure that you will need to evacuate the children."  "Be prepared to live elsewhere for several months."

Well, the threat is not over yet, but we've asked our supporters to pray for the protection and safety of our children, the missionaries & volunteers, the staff, the local people, and our property.  And now in the last few days the waters of the mighty Zambezi have been going down!  Currently we have areas of water puddles and mud, and our road has been usable some days and not usable other days, but at this time we are able to continue to live on, have school on, and do ministry on our COZV property.

Please continue with the prayers!
